Spammer
July 25th, 2005 at 10:55 pm by jamesSomebody kindly tried to use us as a spam platform today. His test address (making enormous gender assumptions, I know) seems to be HomerRagtime@aol.com and his IP was 195.169.128.119
If you’re crawling for addresses please help yourself. If you’re not, feel free to add the above to any dodgy list you might come across from time to time. If you don’t know what I’m on about, leave well alone.

This moron is effectively hammering some of our response forms aswell, trying to use the ordering form as a spam form… Annoying indeed. This really reminds me that I should upgrade my mailing scripts to be able to detect frauds like this and start heavy logging in such cases so that this could be avoided in the future.
Having a form that sends a reciept to the customer is very nice to have, however it also means that its open for such activities that this homerragtime@aol.com tries to accomplish!

What’s entertaining is how little the moron knows about what he’s doing. I tracked it for a while, and a network of mostly schoolkids who’d been passed a script at the same time, but one gets bored and they didn’t appear to be getting anywhere …
